I'm a technical lead and senior software engineer who likes to ship quality code and has experience successfully working across all stages in the development lifecycle. I've built full-stack applications, libraries, APIs, ETLs and other tools to support machine learning in healthcare, recruitment, podcasting, and education. I have a track record of successfully driving the strategic direction, architecture design, prototyping, implementation, and deployment of complex applications and distributed systems.
I am deeply committed to continuous growth & learning — both my own and that of my teammates and other software engineers. I've mentored dozens of junior and mid-career software engineers and am passionate about supporting diverse voices in the software community. I led the technical architecture and design of Lever’s system configuration team of 8 engineers, focusing over the last year on the global data compliance system. Our team built systems at scale which managed legally required, discrete data requirements for many millions of documents. As a lead on the team I built prototypes, wrote code, reviewed PRs, paired with other engineers, and generally pushed the project forward whenever and however needed. My focus was always on designing a system with a clear and sensible api that was both extensible and performant as the product grew, and was easily consumable by other engineering teams at the company.

At Echo Echo, I led a team of 4 developers. I architected, designed, built and deployed a web application that allows podcasters to upload audio which is converted to text using NLP. That text can then be edited and the audio is edited to match. As CTO, I was responsible for hiring, development, and success of the product.

At Enlitic I developed, deployed and maintained a web application which allowed radiologists to interact with, and record, x-ray and CT scan training data for deep learning modeling. I also built a number of python ETL libraries and an Electron application. Lionel reorganized the database and APIs to be more performant and developed an application for DL integrations with the database.

I lectured and ran classes for subjects including: Javascript, Node/Express, React, Angular, SQL, Rails, Python, and data structures & algorithms (among others). I built an internal application that used Express, Postgres, React, and Redux to allow instructors to track and support the learning and development of other instructors. I also worked on the development team to grow the learning management system using Rails and React.
